An 8" square

Hi everyone, sorry for the blog break. I have been busy with other projects and feeling a little low, so took some time away from this blog posting.

I was recently told about another charity project: Aids for AIDS orphans.

You knit or crochet 8" squares, leaving 1 metre length of wool when you cast off for sewing up and send the squares to the charity to make blankets.

Cast on 36 stitches, using 4.5mm needles and acrylic double knit wool for this square.

You can also knit hats and clothes for the charity. So I'm spreading the word.

Have you heard of this charity?

Sudoku Throw

My own design. Instead of numbers I used colours and textures to create the puzzle grid. This one meant I could do small knitting projects that created a larger project and for each pattern I got to practice it 9 times for the nine squares, which helped me get back into the rythym of knitting. Then I crocheted the grid between the blocks.

Do you like Sudoku puzzles?

It occurred to me that seeing the squares as colours rather than numbers might make it easier to solve...

I'm now making one in crochet squares with the remaining wool.
